Clearer PC performance information for real-world decisions.
Bottleneck Calculator is an educational PC performance website built to help people understand component relationships before they upgrade, troubleshoot or build a computer.
Who runs this site
Bottleneck Calculator is founded and edited by Muhammad Hanfi, who builds the calculator and writes and reviews the guides. Read more on his author profile.
What we do
PC performance is rarely explained by one specification. A processor, graphics card, memory configuration, storage device, cooling system and power supply all operate together. Resolution, refresh rate, software, drivers and workload can change which resource becomes the limiting factor. We build tools and guides that explain those relationships in plain language.
How the calculator works
The calculator uses relative CPU and GPU capability values and adjusts them for the selected resolution and workload. Supporting indicators cover RAM capacity, storage type, temperature and PSU headroom. The output is a planning estimate, not a measured benchmark database for every game.
Editorial approach
- Explain what a result means and what it does not mean.
- Prefer measurable troubleshooting steps over unsupported certainty.
- Distinguish estimates from manufacturer specifications and independent benchmarks.
- Keep articles useful for both beginners and experienced PC users.
- Correct technical errors when credible information is provided.
Why we publish guides
A calculator can identify a possible limitation, but it cannot explain every real-world cause of slow performance. Our guides cover CPU and GPU utilization, RAM pressure, temperatures, storage, power and Windows monitoring so readers can verify a result on their own systems.
Corrections and feedback
If you find a hardware entry, calculation assumption or article statement that needs correction, contact us with the page URL and the evidence you are using. We welcome specific technical feedback because hardware specifications and software behavior change over time.
Advertising
If advertising is enabled, advertisements are separated from editorial content. Advertising helps support hosting, development and maintenance of the calculator and guides. Editorial explanations are not written to guarantee a particular advertising outcome.
What is inside the calculator
The calculator currently includes 32 processors and 32 graphics cards. Each entry has a relative performance index and a typical power draw. The tool combines these with your chosen resolution and workload, then scores supporting hardware (RAM, storage, temperature and PSU capacity) separately so one strong part does not hide another weakness.
What it does not do
It does not measure your actual PC and it is not a database of benchmarked frame rates for every game. Results are planning estimates. For important purchases, confirm with current independent reviews and test the games you play. Our guide to checking a PC bottleneck explains how.
